The Roll Call website and the Politico website are probably my favorite sources for American political news. First, they do a great job splitting up their sentences and paragraphs. The paragraphs are divided up very frequently and in a clear manner. This makes the articles very easy to read. It also makes it very easy to delineate between the points and ideas in the text. The articles have a lot of depth to them, managing to cover a lot about the news. In addition, there are always a lot of links embedded throughout the text. I really like this because it allows me to see related articles and opinion pieces and expand my range of knowledge on a particular topic. However, sometimes, this gets in the way, as the links can distract me from the article I'm trying to read. Most importantly, the websites are constantly being updated throughout the day with more news. This is important for maintaining an audience.
The two websites also do a great job of incorporating audience participation. Politico almost always has E-polls on the sidebar of their main page. In addition, every article on both sites always includes comment forums. Any reader can easily leave a comment on any article they have an opinion on. This has downsides, however, as very often the comments left on article are very uninformed, thoughtless, or even offensive. Lastly, every article has built-in functions that allow readers to easily share content on social media.
