Kelsey Hasmonek on the Professor's Magic

Anchor: The magical professor is at it again. Kelsey Hasmonek has the story.

Kelsey: Barry Gordemer is a journalism professor at American University. However, he’s tried to make his classes a bit more exciting twice this semester.

A few weeks ago, Gordemer stuck a needle through a balloon without popping it. On Halloween, he performed another trick.

Gordemer began class with telling his students he interned for a ghost name Carlos when he was younger. He said he wanted to know how ghosts could walk through walls. Student Katie Bryden saw the trick that Carlos supposedly taught him.

Kelsey: Most of the students in Gordemer’s class, like Mina Younossi, were confused as to how the professor performed the trick.

Kelsey: However, Brian Rhoades is one student who was a bit more critical of his professor.

Kelsey: While the students may have disagreed as to whether or not the trick was impressive, Gordemer told them that the secret to the trick was not in the rings themselves, but the sound the rings make.
