Presenting information on a website can be tricky. Too much
text can loose a reader fast. Not enough white space can make your reader feel
overwhelmed.
A good website needs to have intuitive search methods,
grids, information and visual hierarchy, white spaces and photos.
One of my favorite websites is Brit.Co.
Brit.Co is a lifestyle blog. It has eight different tabs
including do it yourself (DIY), pets, style, living, food, tech, health and
events.
Whenever I’m looking for inspiration or looking for my next
DIY project, I always check out Brit.Co because they’re layout and information
is easy to consume.
The homepage features their new blog posts in a photo grid
layout. From there you can either read more about a featured post or check out
one of their categorized tabs.
Whatever their blog posts are on, they’re always very easy
to read. They include creative headlines, photos, short text, step-by-step
information and links.
Another one of my favorite websites is ABeautifulMess.com.
Although, Brit.Co and A Beautiful Mess are both lifestyle
blogs, I use Brit.Co more often for DIY inspiration and A Beautiful Mess for recipes.
The main difference between both of them is that Brit.Co
gathers most of their information from other websites and links you to them while,
all the content on A Beautiful Mess is created by their staff.
Each of their web layouts is very different but I find both
of them easy to navigate.
A Beautiful Mess has six tabs including crafts, photography,
recipes, décor, fashion and beauty. After clicking on a tab, each blog post is
represented with a photo and title that you can click on.
Their posts then include easy-to-follow steps, simple text,
photos, and listed information.
What keeps me coming back to read their both website’s blog
posts is their use of grids, white space, photos and text. Both of these
websites know how to visually present their information.
Their text is simple, short and easy to read. Everything is
to the point so readers can easily consume their content on the go.
